Many are called Few are chosen.
Do you know your scripture well? Tell me when did Jesus lose the masses? Up to this time crowds followed Him everywhere because they saw the miracles which He worked. They hung upon His every word for He taught with authority and not like their scribes. But when did they refuse to follow Him and commented that “This saying is too hard to bear.” It was on the very day that Our Blessed Lord announced the Holy Eucharist. “Unless you eat My Body and drink My Blood you have no (eternal = aeos) life in you.”
Today we live on the sensual level and never penetrate the other two levels of life. We want our entertainment, our speed, our highs, our sensuality. If anyone says that there is greater pleasure in the use of one’s intellect, he would be soundly mocked and eliminated for the conversation. Give me a bottle of beer and a pizza and let’s watch the game together. This pretty much is the extent of the human personality today. This personality that seeks the sensual was prepared for us through the machinations of the Jewish elite who knew that theyhad to destroy the sense of the Sacred. Hence they took over the media, the sports, the politicians. So that today it will not really matter who takes over the oval office. We are in for a Jewish power grab in every nation under the sun. This is what the sensual life offers the men of this day.
However, there is a Psychological life which experiences the pleasure of coming to know men as a composite of body and soul. These philosophers enjoy presenting the natural wisdom which they find in great minds throughout the ages. They would like to lift men up to a new level of being which is composed of art, the educated life, the sense of purpose. We find them as authors of books on how to live a good life. We find them analyzing the politics and the economics of our times. They approach but do not discover the real meaning of life itself. Our Lord asked the question of His Disciples: “Whom do men say that I am?” The disciples had every poll available and answered: “Some say you are John the Baptizer, others say you are Elias; others that you are Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
“But you (dear Catholic) whom do you say that I am?” One man without the consent of the rest cried out: “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Yes, the Son of the Living (aeos) God. He is eternal, infinite, all powerful, all present. He is the physical body of the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity. He is Emmanuel for God is with us. In the holy Eucharist we receive the reality of the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ. The mystery is a mystery. None on earth can fathom this gift of God we can holy kneel before Him and in awe reverence His Majesty. Don’t fool yourself. Our finite mind cannot plunge the depths of the presence of Jesus in the most Holy Sacrament. Instead of trying to understand it or explain it just simply respect the Holy Presence of God and yield to His Inspiration.
Today the need for the Blessed Sacrament to be restored to the care of holy priests is a requirement second to none. If the priest will recognize the distance between God and man then his deportment at this most august sacrament would change radically. No more jokes, no more common place language, no more reception of God in one’s hands, no more of the demonic mockery of the Mystery of God with us. Instead let us fall down in worship of the one, holy and true God Who remains with us until the end of time in the simplicity of the accidents of bread and wine. Through the consecration of these elements the divine nature seeks to lift us up into the heavenly Love affair that is the goal and glory of our life here in this world. Love Him and Adore Him in the Holy Eucharist.
In the hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
Fr. Richard Voigt
