Woman why are you weeping? Our Blessed Mother wept for the Son who came up missing. Joseph could not console her; their kinsmen had no idea where to look. How could this holy Son be lost? He Who created every plant and animal; He Who knew every highway and byway. What could have happened to Him? Joseph took Mary and returned to the Holy City. With God nothing happens by chance; there are no accidents in the plan of God. True science sits in obedience to the creation which wishes to release its secrets to the one who will submit to silence.
After three days the Virgin Mother found her divine Son in the temple of God. There He was questioning and revealing truths hidden from of old. “Son, why hast thou done so to us. Your father and I have been seeking Thee for three days?” The response was a question: “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?” It is the third sword of sorrow to plunge into the Virginal Heart of Mary. The Father of all was at work in sanctifying the greatest of His Creations. She to whom the angels gave honor; she who humbled herself in becoming a mother; she who willed to give this Son human flesh and blood. Now it is her honor to experience the abandonment of all humanity from divine friendship because of the threatening monster of sin.
Who can deny that each member of the holy family exemplified purity uniquely? Joseph holds the lily of purity in his protection of the Mother of God’s Son. Mary possesses a purity that conquers sterility and gives birth to every child in every age. Then there is the Son of God, Our Lord Jesus Christ, whose integrity fosters truth in every one that comes to Him seeking forgiveness. This holy family cannot help but bear many souls for heaven’s realm. All of us are called but few of us follow in the footsteps of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Their purity seeks to submit their very wills to the Will of the Father.
In Jesus’ submission to Joseph and Mary we discover the act of reparation called forth from the Heart of the Father in the moment of His pattern of “re-bonding” Himself with man and woman. Woman was called to “submit herself to her husband.” The act of submission on Mary’s part bears fruit in the submission of Jesus, the Son of the New Covenant. There can be no true reparation without the submission of the will. The submission of the will begets a humility of spirit which opens the heart and mind to the wonder of God’s plan.
We are approaching the day of infamy in which a supreme court chose to neglect submission to the Divine Will and lift up the human will determined on convenience, comfort and complacency. Women have denied the submission to the family and have raised up professional careers to inflate their egos. One woman came to my sophomore class in East LA to speak on the horror of abortion. She was 23 years of age, a dark brunette beauty who stunned the sophomores into silent appreciation of feminine charm. Her talk began in this manner: “Please forgive me, please forgive me, please forgive me?” The boys response was simply “Why? What have you done to us?” She responded: “Forgive me for aborting two of your brothers.” She then told the story of how Planned Parenthood deceived her into thinking that these two boys would ruin her life. For convenience of education and for advancement she should not carry these babes to term and so she lost two of her sons. She went on to tell of the hell of living with this guilt. Every child she saw caused her to image her boys, their age, what they would be doing. She was heading nowhere but the insane asylum until she met a young Catholic gentleman who protected her purity and told her a secret. He told her to go out to others and share the secret sin and air it out. Speak of it and the very story told will bring about a healing. Certainly the young lady made her confession and now would go to speak wherever the Right to Life asked her and was she effective.
The pattern of the holy family healed her. She humbled herself and submitted to the will of the Father. She purified herself and practiced a spiritual virginity until she was married in the Church and submitted her life to her husband. Purity, submission, reparation, humility and silence offer us the secret of the holy family which will lead us to the peace of heaven even in this crazy world. Certainly, pray for the end of the scourge of abortion but know that it is up to us to make the reparation necessary through submission of our wills to the Will of God. It is God’s Will that all Catholics return to the only legitimate expression of submission = the true holy sacrifice of the Cross codified by Pope St. Pius V. This is the power that will bring about the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In that moment the seed of the serpent will be crushed by the heel of our Lady. May it come quickly.
In the hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
Fr. Richard Voigt
